Cargo Damage Survey: This survey assesses the condition of cargo upon loading and unloading, identifying any damages that may have occurred during transit. It is crucial for resolving claims and disputes between shippers/ receivers, charterers and Owners.
Hull Damage Survey: Focuses on the structural integrity of the ship’s hull, identifying any damage from collisions, groundings, or other incidents. These surveys assist in protecting the interest of various stakeholders in the event of incidents and accidents.

Pre-loading surveys are conducted before loading steel, ores, or similar bulk cargoes to ensure the cargo is in good condition and properly prepared for shipment. These surveys include inspecting the cargo for defects, checking the stowage plans, and ensuring that the cargo holds are clean, dry, and suitable for loading. Proper pre-loading surveys help prevent damage during transit and ensure the cargo reaches its destination in optimal condition.
Ullaging is the process of measuring the quantity of liquid cargo in a tank by determining the distance from the surface of the liquid to a fixed point. This survey is essential for verifying the amount of liquid cargo loaded or discharged, ensuring accurate billing and compliance with contractual terms. Sampling involves collecting liquid cargo samples for analysis to ensure the quality and specifications meet the contractual requirements. These surveys are particularly important for petroleum products, chemicals, and other high-value liquid cargoes.
Draft Survey: Measures the displacement of a ship before and after loading or unloading cargo to determine the weight of the cargo. This survey ensures accurate cargo weight measurement, which is crucial for billing and compliance with loading limits.
Bunker Survey: Assesses the quantity of fuel and lubricants on board a vessel before and after a voyage or at specified intervals. This survey helps prevent disputes over fuel consumption and ensures proper fuel management.
Condition Survey: Evaluates the overall condition of a vessel, including its hull, machinery, and equipment. This survey is often conducted before the purchase or sale of a ship, providing valuable information about its maintenance history and current state.

Condition Survey: Similar to other condition surveys, this type assesses the physical state of break bulk and project cargoes, ensuring they are in good condition upon arrival and departure.
Measurement Survey: Verifies the dimensions and volume of cargo, ensuring it matches the specifications in the shipping documents. This survey is particularly important for oversized or uniquely shaped project cargoes.
